It would be helpful to post images of front, back, and a close-up of the mark. I have seen small antique pieces marked just "silver," but there is no fineness indicated; if it is important to you to determine the precise silver content, you would need to test the metal. Doing so is often d...
The 830S fineness marking would seem to indicate Norwegian manufacture; I have not seen a Hammer piece quite like that, although it is similar to his style; perhaps Clement Berg might be a possibility? Also, I am still not convinced that the German retailers were not actually marketing and selling N...
That is also entirely possible. Just over the past few days, though, I have been researching a set of Marius Hammer spoons that bear not only his marks, but also those of Henry James Hulbert along with London import marks. Hulbert himself was also a prolific silversmith, but seems to have sponsored ...
Very interesting page of advertising - but is it possible the Unverfehrt was importing the soljes? The page is titled "Original Norwegian Filigree Jewelry."
This one has me a bit stumped, and not optimistic that I will ever figure out who made it, but it is a very high-quality, older artisan necklace with a hand-forged, 24" chain, and very detailed 1 1/2" pendant depicting a basket with amber grapes. The clasp is attached to a small plaque tha...
I keep coming back to this piece for some reason. I just found this image online of a silver solje by Norsk Filigransfabrikk: (admin photo edit - images too large - link only - see Posting Requirements ) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h110/jritter284/norskfiligransfabrikk.jpg While not identical,...
Sorry for the delay getting back to this thread, it took me a while to find these two pieces. The open salt cellar is Russian, the solje-looking pin is unmarked. Both are brass with kiln-fired enamel. Perhaps all three pieces are somehow related? http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h110/jritter284/1-3...
Well, this is a bit late to reply, but I did not see this until now. The H in a triangle is the mark for the F.A. Hermann company of Attleboro, Massachusetts. They produced quite a lot of small enamel jewelry, typically with hand-painted floral accents.
The pendant was designed by Björn Sigurd Ostern for David-Andersen in the early 1960s (definitely qualifies as Scandinavian mid-century modern). It pops up every now and then on Internet auction sites and in online vendors' stores. The "Inv." = "inventor," or designer. (admin ed...
Hi all, I am trying to find out who made this guilloche button brooch. I am assuming it is Austrian, with the 935 fineness. Although I have found a few pieces online by the same maker, nobody seems to know who it is. Thanks! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h110/jritter284/1-35.gif http://i62.photo...
Charles Horner did several pieces with the fylfot symbol, from a simple brooch or bar pin to one of a key that incorporated the symbol. They are thought to have been designed in 1894-95, but most of the pieces were produced from 1905-1915 that I have seen. Of course it was not in any way intended to...
