I have a heavy sp on copper gravy set, nice form and quality plating, any idea of maker? I have not seen these lions facing off mark, appreciate any assistance!
Hello, I am trying to ID this mark on old SP tray- 3 shields with initials, 2nd shield is an "S", 3rd looks like a "C", and 1st is so worn I can't make it out. I'm hoping someone may recognize the 3 shield configuration all on its own. Thanks so much! http://i51.tinypic.com/do8kf...
Cheryl, You are amazing- I saw this mark in my Rainwater but it looked so different (the mark was so worn) that I dismissed it- now, of course, I get it. But the pattern, too!!! Thank you so much- wish I could reciprocate sometime!
Can you share your favorite reference source? Thanks again! Karen
Hello, here is a sterling spoon and I can not locate anything on the mark, looks like a crown with an arrow through it- thanks to all you have a look and for any assistance in identification. Does the 1000 refer to solid silver? http://i54.tinypic.com/2q32is3.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/2eaqwd3.jpg
Cheryl, You are a doll! I hope I get to return an identification request someday- thanks so much! Karen PS I automatically think a three letter mark is British- dumb, I know.
Hello, I've searched through my books (woeful) and have not found anything on this trio of marks- looks like a crown shield and lion. Any help appreciated- thanks so much! X X
Hello, I have never seen this mark and hope someone is familiar with it. Large tureen, high victorian, neat gargoyle detail, here is photo of the item plus mark. Thanks so much of help with mark identification. Karen http://i.imgur.com/bOFsG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kwmAe.jpg
Tom, The "S" only needs a one-quarter turn clockwise and it's almost a match! Thanks so much for your efforts- I think I'll retire this inquiry. Maybe this is a "fantasy" mark? We should be working on more important stuff, like 17th c. sterling:)
Happy New Year everyone! I'm looking for identification of mark on this sterling jigger (or shot measure), mark is the initial "S" inside a spade shaped mark. I checked my books and am not locating anything like this. Thanks so much! http://d.imagehost.org/0565/sterling_jigger_012.jpg http...
Patrick, Thanks so much. I scoured my books and came up dry- so I greatly appreciate your response. I just can't let an unidentified mark rest, even when it's on silver plate! I think the sketch is a match. Thanks again! Karen
Hello, this mark is on the back of a silver plate dinner spoon, what looks to be a crescent moon plus a crown plus a bullseye, plus words fairfield plate. Does anyone know this maker? Thanks so much!
Hello, here is a front & back view of a small 3 5/8" twist handle spoon with ornate floral handle gold wash bowl, plus mark. Mark is tiny on the reverse of the bowl, looks like a stag or deer. I have heard that Wallace stag marks are sometimes unlettered. These two spoons are similar in siz...
Well, I think this is the first time I hav replied to one of my own posts, but I believe this mark is for Towle- Lion with a T- corroboration anyone? Thanks again!
Hello, please, does anyone recognize this mark? I'm not coming up with anything in my reference books- perhaps I have not oriented the mark correctly. Mark is pictorial- words say "sterling" and "copyrighted". Many, many thanks! http://b.imagehost.org/0307/10-31-2010_155.jpg http...
Silverport, Quite amazing, I see you also interpret marks submitted, ahh, upside-down. Thank you ever so much! The research corollary to reviewing my reference books is that the mark appears in same after I have submitted the unfindable mark to the silver forum.
Hello, help appreciated with this sterling serving set, heavy pieces measure 9" long and impressed "sterling pat'd A. Stowell & Co." plus impressed mark that just looks like a blob to me- an "F" or "T"? I know Stowell would be the retailer. If anyone is familia...
Thanks so much! Does the Barbour mark then mean the trivet dates between 1892 and 1898- when Barbour became a division of International? Or did International continue the use of the Barbour mark? How does one tell the trivet is silverplate and not sterling? Wish I was more sophistocated about the le...
