Re: polish residue

Kerangoumer2, you are quite right when you say it is not polish residue : I soaked the font for days and the 'thing' does not come off. It came off at some points, but it is stuck for most of the engravings. I think it should not be there , as I could scrape off some of it and that the silver work u...

polish residue

Hello

I want to know if it is ok to soak a silver item in not water (I am thinking of my holy water mural font) , in the hope it will dissolve the polish residue in fine carving.

Could it damage anything, like a old soldering or repair ?

Thank you
François

At the back, there is a triangle (probably the side of a diamond shape) with a letter J Does anyone own the same font, with a clear hall...

1935 Art Deco Chalice and Paten, w/ gold, enamel diamonds

Hello, Last time I was in Caen, in Normandy, I found a chalice and paten in their oak box. I bought it with the original drawings made by the priest himself and all the letters exchanged between him and the silversmith, Robert Commin. It was a gift from his family and friends, made for the Ordinatio...

Re: Sauce boats 1902

Thank you !

Checking on the internet, I found that Joseph Hawkins makes "Card case, mustard, napkin ring, pepperette, salt, sovereign case, vesta "
So he may well be the maker of these boats

You were very helpful
Thanks
