Tankard??

Good Morning: I need some help with a couple of things: 1. Is this a tankard? I'm questioning it because it has a spout. If it isn't a tankard, then what? 2. I'd like confirmation on my hallmark identification, which I've set out below: Sterling Silver, London, 1762. The maker's mark is "JP&quo...

Wow, thanks. I wouldn't have figured this one out. Which punch let's you know that it's imported? What reference did you use to come to that conclusion? Thanks again, your information/knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Miles and Tom: Thanks for your input. I used a q-tip and cleaned it some more. I was able to make out the "JD" and see the "D" under the upper "D"; however the other letter is covered by a nail. I checked under the Chester and found nothing. Any clues on my other postin...

Dear Miles:

I looked at the frame and the photos again. I think I can barely discern the WD below what I thought was JH, but again, I agree it could be JD. One more favor. Would you concur that the date is c. 1900?

Thanks,
Michelle

Another mystery - picture frame

Hello again. I am having trouble figuring out the maker's mark for this picture frame. I believe the initials are "JH". Thanks. Michelle http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/dinkum1/frame1.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r247/dinkum1/Frame3A.jpg .

Need help identifying marks on basket

Good morning. I have another puzzle. I have a basket and need some help. I have figured out it's sterling (lion passant). I can also make out the leopard's head. HOWEVER, the rest is a mystery to me: First punch (maker's mark) is clear (maybe not in the photo tho): EIM; second punch (lion passant); ...

Need help with Maker's Mark on Sugar Bowl

Gooday again: Again I must seek your assistance. I am having a really hard time reading the maker's mark. I believe it is an ? & A above "Ltd" I am deciphering the other marks as Chester, sterling mark and "L" date mark of 1936. Any thoughts on the maker's mark? I am always a...

Miles

Thanks for your input. I mistook the mark as the leopard's head. It's rubbed out and difficult to see. Based on the "x" for 1915 I'm in agreement with you.

Thanks again,

Michelle

Miles: I'm thinking that you may not think it's attributable to the London Assay Office. I'm learning as I go along. I found the following: The date letter . Each year, which runs from May till April, is allocated a different letter. A cycle of 20 letters is used (omitting J, V, W, X, Y, and Z) so t...

Thanks Miles. Neither the reference of London Hallmarks on this website nor my Miller's book show an "x". I am incorrect in thinking it's attributed to London? Both the book and this website for London date letters end at "U." Am I looking in the wrong area? Thanks for everything...

Help identifying maker's mark and date of napkin ring

Gooday again. I am trying to identify the maker's marks and date of the napkin ring in the attached photos. I believe it might be 1932. It is an "r" but it appears to have a line through it which makes it look like an "x," but that's not possible (right)? The maker's marks are SD...

Need help identifying maker's mark on beaker

Goodday. I believe I have been able to identify the date of the beaker as 1872 and that it is sterling silver (london). I have, however, after a great deal of research been unable to identify the maker's mark. The letters are in the form of a cross: From top to bottom: JBJ and from side to side: EB ...
