The bottom mark appears to be a French Guarantee mark. See this websites section on french silver to be sure, I could be wrong.

The only appleton I know of was nathaniel appleton of london and that would make it a much older piece, and i don't believe he used his full name as a hallmark. Are there any other marks, assay marks, city marks etc.?

Could definitely use a hand figuring out the origin of this small bowl. I keep finding the letters, and the cartouche, but never together. And the center mark is completely rubbed away.
