Thanks for the information. I believe I've identified the second mark--it is an "A" and "800" in a diamond-shaped cartouche. I found this marking on a page about Belgian silver as a purity mark used in the late 1800s up until around the 1940s. I have read that the "A" i...

Does anyone have any idea what this implement would be used for? It is mostly flat, but is slightly curved or bowled in the "spoon" part on one side.

Thank you for the information! I was having no luck finding similar markings without an idea where to start searching. It is nice to have the mystery solved. Now I also know that the 945 is a pattern number instead of some freakish purity rating. It did not look or feel like sterling, but I was puzz...

Candlesticks with "A S Co" and eagle head?

I have a pair of candlesticks which appear to be American based on the patent information I was able to find related to the Patent No. stamped on both candlesticks. The patent was issued in 1927 to Ernest T. Beck, who in the patent, was "assignor" of the patent to the International Silver ...

Thank you very much for the reply! I will look for some more information on Delheid Freres. Anything else you might find on the diamond cartouche with the "A 800 mark" will be appreciated!

Unidentified server- "D" with snake above

This server was given to me as a wedding present by friends in Belgium. The marks are legible, but I have not been able to identify them. Any help would be most appreciated! Four pictures follow: two of the marks and two of the overall object. This is my first time posting pictures so I apologize fo...

Thank you, Waylander. Because I am "new" at this, I was not sure if that was common for a retailer to mark pieces made by others. Thanks for your reply and information!

W. Carrington and Wood & Hughes?

Sorry no photo as my camera is on loan to someone. I have a sterling serving spoon with mark "W. Carrington & Co." as well as the mark of Wood & Hughes ("W" with the stylized ampersand which looks like a "3" on its side, followed by an "H"). I know a l...
