Hi and welcome to the forum. Thanks for persisting with the images! J.C is Joseph Cook, a known maker of thimbles, and the date letter is, I believe, "n" for 1887. It could also possibly be "u" for 1894, but I think that is unlikely as by then Joseph Cook had become Joseph Cook ...
