Re: Pair of Silver ducks. Maker's mark illegible.

They are hollow and each has three small holes about 2 millimeters in diameter beneath the tail. When I insert a pin it and meets no resistance at all, so they're not filled. The fact that they're hollow complicates a specific gravity test. I wish the mark were legible. It would certainly make ident...

Re: Where was this made?

Got a feeling this was made in Denmark. The Danish silversmiths loved to enamel their work and compacts were a fairly common production piece.

Pair of Silver ducks. Maker's mark illegible.

Dutch silver teapot

Thank you. I gather the dolphin mark means the silver content is below the 833 standard. What is the content or is that possible to establish? Also, is a pseudomark a fraud or fake?

Dutch teapot unknown silver content and maker

Here is a teapot which I was told was Dutch silver. There is a picture of the teapot and a picture of the hallmarks on the bottom. I cannot find out much about the item and would like to know name of maker, date made and the silver content. Thank you. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n12/vinsildad...

Many thanks Miriam. I did go to the above link to check out the hallmarking, but I don't read Hungarian and simply got confused. I'll have to try out some translation software. Best regards

Old Cigarette Case Marks to identify

This is an old silver cigarette case. There's a date of 1932. VI.7-13 on it along with the words or places Venezia-Dolomiti-Passo Giovo-Salzkammergut-Gesause. There are also three signatures that have been etched into the silver. I'd like to learn the history of this piece but have not been able to ...
