I plan to take it to a jeweler to get tested this evening but I tried some of the home tests- ice cubes melted very quickly on it and it seemed to absorb the cold very quickly. It also rings very well when struck. The metal itself does feel very hard though

Found in a local thrift store. The plate appears to be hand made rather than manufactured. I have not been able to match the maker's marks to anything on this site or elsewhere so I'm hoping the crest will offer some clues.
