Re: Grachev Brothers Spoons - Imperial Cypher?

In my opinion are the shown spoons authentic - they should be cleaned and polished! This pattern is sometimes found - mostly single pieces in good condition with all the marks perfectly struck. I have my doubts about the "Bulgarian source" - what comes from there looks different.... Here a...

Skeletonizing is to cut out a printed (engraved) pattern.

Re: Podstakannik - unknown maker's mark "АИ" early 20th C

It looks as if a layperson has tried to partially skeletonize the pattern - recognizable by the unprofessional execution. Some other objects from the same, wellknown maker: https://abload.de/img/ivanova.014yj2x.jpg https://abload.de/img/ivanova.01ahmjdc.jpg https://abload.de/img/ivanova.t.011lk3i.jp...

Hi -
we all know that the Artel numbers are always in a cartouche (shield) of different forms - see photo. "Nude numbers" are never seen...place for wild speculations...

Re: Continental Silver Walking Cane - Please help with hallmarks

Hi - Piotr Latkowski worked for many Polish and Baltic firms (cutlery, napkinrings, walking sticks, canes etc.) who marked this articles in their countries acc. to the laws. So you have his mark and the mark of the client on it. https://abload.de/img/st03q1jdw.jpg https://abload.de/img/st03auukob.jp...

Re: Cigarette case hallmark

Hi - Your rudimentary knowledge may be enough for an autodidact - but it is far from enough for a sophisticated forum. There are 2 types of sources in science: primary sources (100% verified) and secondary sources (not 100% verified). Just ask some expert - he will explain you the rules of the trade...

Re: Cigarette case hallmark

As to what is stated in Postnikova. It is the best book available for the moment but unfortunately it contains some "inefficiencies and frankly said errors too. I have registered close to 200 "inefficiencies etc.". Juke mentions #10 (76). It could be a mistake or a gold fineness. The...

Captain's spoon and fork

Hi -- as far as I know Captain's spoons were always a single present. Here I found a spoon and a fork from the same maker and donator. Insider know all the details so I do not have to repeat them. If someone too have a spoon and fork like that I would be interested in photos. https://abload.de/img/0...
