Hi Again, I recently acquired this piece. I am assuming it is a bud vase as it is only 7.5" tall but very beautiful. It has the standard London 1899 lion with an import oval F on it. I believe the importer is John George Smith but my real question is that there are 2 other marks on the reverse ...
Hi, I unfortunately do not have much more to add to the link about Asa Sibley that was provided. I do believe the spoon i have is indeed made by him but other than that I know nothing. I will gladly try to answer any questions you do have.
Thank you again Cheryl. I have 6 of the forks and 6 spoons as well. They really are nice to look at but I am struggling on how to use them. I think dessert may be the way to go.
Thank you Cheryl. Your post was extremely informative. The acid testing was done by scratching onto a stone, not directly onto the piece. I will not test on the piece itself. Thank you for the information about the copper alloy as well. Would you or anyone know what these would be used for? The fork...
Thank you for the reply. I did look them up as well. They have some similarities however I am not educated enough to know if they are the same maker. I would think they would have added makers marks to their pieces. I tested both ends of the spoon for silver but I Noticed some bluing on one of the p...
I know its a long shot but I picked theses up today. They do test positive for silver. If anyone has any ideas such as age of the items (I think they are 1900's) or possibly a name of an appraiser who may know what I have I would appreciate it. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-...
Hi Dognose, Thank you for the reply. That looks very much like what I see. I didn't know if embedding them would be preferred as the images were large to provide as much detail as possible. How were you able to find this so quickly? I am asking so I can do this myself and not bother the forum as muc...
Hi All, Big spoon (62 grams and probably 10 inches, tested positive for silver with the acid test. By the feel and look I am thinking 1800's coin silver serving spoon. I cannot identify the hallmark. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg Thank you in advance!
Apologizes for linking to the external site. I read through the rules but apparently I missed that part. Again, I apologize. That being said I have contacted a few "Experts" and no-one can identify this pattern. Can anyone here recommend a person whom I may be able to reach out to in order...
Hi All, I have been able to identify the hallmark as ROgers, LUnt & Bowlen but for the life of me I cannot identify this pattern. I have only found it in one place (replacements.com) and they have a generic name for the pattern. Link is here: (admin edit - see Posting Requirements ) The spoon is...
TC-10 appears to be attributed to Miguel Cisneros who was associated with the jewelry company "Far Fetched". I emailed Far Fetched but they denied any association with him or this hallmark. https://books.google.com/books?id=4n7_jNrBp9EC&pg=PA267&lpg=PA267&dq=Mexico+TC-10+silver...
Absolutely. I essentially googled "Hallmark Silver H" and searched until I found an image of the bracelet. From Website: http://www.johnhardy.com/classic-chain-large-bracelet/2_407_1189404.html#prefn1=materialDesc1&sz=24&start=25&prefv1=Silver&tiles=true I also looked for t...
