Re: SAL SAGEV by Victor Silver

A listing of two knives and one fork backstamped for THE INTERSTATE CO. appear to match this pattern. Images are blurred but seem to read VICTOR S. CO. A1+ Overlay followed by [IS]. The Interstate Co. evolved from the VanNoy-Interstate merged firm which operated railroad dining locations (eating hou...

Re: Please help me figure out what this is.

Has a repeating rotating pattern. Begin 4, X, Blank, 2, 1. Shifts one space to right as you go down 1 to 5, then repeats again at 6 to 7. Same pattern reads top to bottom in columns. So where would you need a 5x5 array? And 7 could be hours, days, months, or years.

Re: Faded hallmark on OLD porringer

Companies routinely change marks over time, but you have the lion's hindquarters and the block-style "E" to the left. The stock numbers (item/pattern/catalogue/etc.) can also be altered or a slight difference may relate to size or details. [BTW..we are not allowed to post direct links to c...

A cleanup of marks would help, but maybe try comparing to Ellmore Silver Co. mark #1: https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_E.html

Apparently being referred to as pattern INS182. Known users include Hotel Raddison, a Hotel Phillips, the Wheel Cafe Cincinnati (1901-81), and an unknown "Canton" which may be a restaurant.

Topmarked for Nevada's historically significant Hotel SAL SAGEV (Las Vegas backwards), this unidentified pattern by International Silver Company's subsidiary Victor Silver Co., may have been ordered to accompany the known china pattern with an "Indian Head" logo. But this is not definite a...

For Peruvian G-in-star mark, search reference under San Agustin for Trev's entry. There is also an RI# used.

PLATA 925 DEL PILAR PERU plus (?) RI.8357

Could only conclude the beginning of that alpha-numeric code as we have a prior inquest that failed to add images. The numbers slightly differ for another type object, so these could be stock/item codes all of which raises the question of whether we are dealing with importer/retailer designations or...

Re: Dohrmann Companies--Maker or not?

A singular group of Simon's ice tea/soda spoons found together. All are marked "DOHRCO 5" and appear similar to the prior piece from Victor Silver. But here, each one has been professionally X-ed out over the name. Trying to pin down the events surrounding the closure of the Simon's chain ...

Commercial wares were used everywhere from logging camp commissaries to corporate boardrooms. 1936 is long after the grand era of 1885-1910 when there would have been many Union-named places that might be associated, even indirectly, with railroad travel in it's golden age. You have entered the earl...
