I'm not sure what the repair is made of. It does test as silver, but I don't know what purity. There's a screw protruding from base that's not apparent from the pictures. I've never seen a coffee pot with a screw sticking out so why I said the repair probably explains the screw in base.
Here's a picture of the repair, probably explains the screw. There are no other marks anywhere. I'm positive its silver, but haven't tested it. Its lightweight with numerous small dents, easy to bend, all typical of silver.
I need help identifying the hallmarks on the coffee pot. I believe its French, there's other very similar designed pieces that are French. I don't recognize the hallmarks, one being a flower, the other an odd symbol. They could possibly be a city assay mark. There's not much readily available info o...
I bought a large lot of silverware and almost all of it was Danish. I haven't seen Danish marks like this, but I don't know where else to start. Top mark looks like crossed swords with a crown on top and the bottom mark is too illegible for me to read. Its a very well made and detailed spoon. Its ab...
wow thank you both. I've never seen Italian silver before the late 19th century with the more typical hallmarks. can you explain how the numbers correspond to the weight? it's 40 regular ounces.
I bought this at an estate sale. Its 13.75" wide and very heavy. Its engraved on back 3 4 13, which I think might be April 3, 1813. It has a partial city hallmark. I think its crossed keys or axes with crown on top. Maker's mark looks like MA or some combination or WV. Does anyone recognize the...
I would like help identifying the silversmith of this spoon. I think its signed R Parker, which doesn't show in any reference site / book I've looked at. I think its probably from the 18th century with the style monogram and spoon construction. Any help is appreciated. https://i.imgur.com/YBoU6oB.jp...
I picked up these spoons at a sale. I believe they are dated 1730 or 1731 on front. I'm having trouble identifying the maker or even reading the mark. The last two letters are definitely "DE", but the first is too worn, possibly "I,S, or J". One of them appears to have an additio...
I bought a set of 12 spoons marked this way. They're about 5 7/8" long and a little over 1 oz each. They feel like they're from the arts and crafts period with the hammered finish. I haven't been able to find a silversmith that used this mark. I saw there's a Rhoda Wager, but I believe her stuf...
I need help identifying the hallmark on this spoon. All that remains is a deer/stag hallmark. There may have been more to it, but its too worn to tell. Any help is appreciated. https://i.imgur.com/PjhruBZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0IOgtET.jpg https://i.imgur.com/I2FnIZ9.jpg
I can't figure out the country or maker this spoon is from. The hallmark looks like a shield or harp with the initials FG. Does anyone know where this is from? Spoon is a little more than 5 1/2" long. A light scratch test and tests as silver, I would say at least 800 silver. Thanks https://i.im...
I'm having trouble identifying these marks. Its a tea caddy with the 4 seasons on each side. The marks are lion (no crown or number), crown "R" or "B", and a fleur de lis. No other marks present. My best guess was its Dutch silver marks. Could anyone help identify them? Thanks ht...
Bought this in a group of bon bon scoops. The mark seems like Fisher's mark, but more compact. I think they only make holloware though. Its either an "S" or "F" with a crown. Anyone recognize the mark? I thought I knew the mark when I bought it, but upon further research, its not...
