Ok I've closely scrutinized the spoon under a 10x loop and definitely see no evidence of an over-strike or polished out maker's mark. Perhaps an oversight on his behalf? ;)

Hi welcome to the forum, I believe it to be date letter K for London 1865, normally there should be a maker’s mark unless it has been polished away or over struck. Please check. Hi there. Having studied the London Date Letter Chart, I cant seem to find the exact corresponding font for the 'k' Hallmark depicted on my spoon.
