Re: Additional Marks on a Brimingham Cruet Set

Hi guys
interesting read; I've 3 silver napkin rings with exactly the same marks. I wondered what they were. Now I know, Irish import marks. Glad I read your post. Cheers. Gary

Re: Can anyone help, very large silver spoon

Thanks guys; when I acid tested it, I made quite a deep scratch.
It looks very well made. I see it was put in the Scandinavian Section. I was hoping someone may say 'ah, I recognise that'; fingers crossed.

Can anyone help, very large silver spoon

Hi guys, I don't know if anyone can help; have a very large silver spoon, only marks on it are SS. I acid tested it today and it tested positive for silver. I can't find any other marks. Seems very well made. Is it a holiday trinket or could it have some age to it. Weight 70.5g. Length 23cm. Bowl ap...

Re: Spoons allegedly brought back from 1st world war

Cheryl, thanks for the information. The colour in the pics was tone, so I dipped them and they came up a nice silver; however, I acid tested them and as you said, silver plate on base metal. Gutted. Your information was excellent and I appreciate your help. Always good to learn something, even if it...

Spoons allegedly brought back from 1st world war

Hi everyone. I have a set of 12 spoons, which allegedly were brought back from the far east at the end of the 1st world war. Marked Hong Kong and 84 on bowl and handle. Handle appears to be a snake with a a rat on it. Hope the markings don't say something like bought in Hong Kong, 1975. Can anyone i...

Birmingham, I think 1895

Good evening all. I have a large silver hairbrush and I think the hallmarks are for birmingham 1895, however, not 100% sure as in the books, it shows that 1896-6 isn't closed at the top; what does everyone think. Appreciated as always. gary https://i.postimg.cc/T3bGWy7N/SAM-5057.jpg https://i.postim...

English Gold Hallmarks ? 1965

Dear all, have a small broach with full uk gold marks, but i'm not 100% sure of the date mark. I think it's 1965, given the year letter, but, the cartouches are a completely different shape, which I think is ok for gold, but I may well be wrong; please provide me with some education. Appreciated as ...

unknown hallmark on ring and pendant

Hi Guys, I have a ring and pendant with unknown hallmarks. Ring is quite fancy with what looks like glass, but probably isn't, over something looking iridescent. The pendant is the same. All I can say is that the is a 925, a big D and then in an oval cartouche, a couple of squiggly letters and a sma...
