Sorry I meant to write before- "that there "were" few different styles used then". Not "are" of course.

Re: Help in identifying the date letter

Thanks Trev for the link. I actually thought by mistake that the letters shown on this table for 1894/6 are regular letters, and only those for example in the 1830's were Gothic ones. It seems that there are a few different styles used then for gothic letter hallmarks. Many thanks again for the help...

Re: Help in identifying the date letter

Thank you Trev. That is very interesting because I didn't know that they used Gothic letters in 1894/6. On the 2 Birmingham dates letters tables I found searching online, the U and W letters of 1894/6 are regular and not gothic. Did they use back then both regular and also gothic letters in the same...

Re: Help in identifying the date letter

I am not sure that the first pictures I posted of the date letters are clear enough, so I am trying now once more.
Can anyone maybe identify this letter?

Re: Help in identifying the date letter

The maker hallmark on the ring is "E & F. B" , I think that may be- E & F Bauer- c 1902, but I am also not sure about that?

Help in identifying the date letter

Hi Everyone, I will be very grateful if anyone can help me date this 18K gold ring? I am finding it very hard to identify the Birmingham Date Letter on it. Someone told me that it looks like a 1894 "U" letter, but I am not sure if he is right? https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https:/...

Re: Help in dating a ring

By the way just another thing about this ring. As shown in the last picture I posted above, it looks like the ring has small accent orange stones all around the center diamond. Amazingly it does not have there any stones whatsoever accept the diamond! Around the diamond are just small oval shaped ho...

Re: Help in dating a ring

Thank you ssoooo much Trev!! I really appreciate your very fast and extremely helpful answer. I was really searching in the totally wrong place, as I didn't know about the Chester Assay, I just read now somewhere that they closed down in 1962. The Edinburgh assay symbol just looked the most similar ...
