Thanks to a forum member I was able to further my search & finally got some GREAT info! I contacted a museum in Bergen, Norway & here's the info: Martin Olsen was a goldsmith born in Bergen in 1832 and became a master in 1867. He had his own workshop from 1870 and produced objects for many y...
Question: Did Martin Olsen from Bergen, active 1867-1930.....work for Th. Marthinsens SA. company? I'm asking because on this website the producers mark ")" after the 830S says it is. So, that makes "M Olsen" the retailer? the silversmith? Thank you!
The spoon is 8 1/2" long. I can't make out the marks: SBOS? ...CLSFN? It is engraved I think in Danish "Erindring Fra Bedstomor Kleppe" (Remembrance From Bedstomor Kleppe) I could be wrong on the name spelling. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg....
I believe I have a "4 toed waiter tray" by Theodore B. Starr (1900-1924) by the horse-like mark. But WHAT is the other mark? DSL or D&L? I can't ID it. Tray with handles is 29 1/2" long & weighs 11.3 LBS Thank you! https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.co...
Update, so after using the Hagerty silver foam polish....nothing. It didn't actually work at all on this piece. Some raised parts actually are more copper in color if any change at all. I also used it on a piece I knew for sure was silver plated & it worked great. So, I'm thinking it's not silve...
This WEBSTER MFG Co looks NOTHING like all of Websters' Mark. I still have yet to find this WEBSTER anywhere else. I'm still looking for guidance !!! Thank you!!
OMG! I can't believe you can see that! To my eyes it looks like the leaf itself! I zoomed in as best as I could to your marks. Thank you for seeing that!!
Hi, As you suggested, I removed the finial....nothing. I didn't think that was a monogram because (1) I was under the impression the last name would be larger & in the middle of the smaller first name initials & (2) I saw a Martin & Hall Sheffield tea kettle 1859 that had an ornate scrip...
I have exhausted every search & the closest I've seen (overall look wise) is a similar tea kettle that was made by Martin, Hall & Co. Sheffield, but their marks are totally different. Mine appears to be "M&FR" on one side & the exact opposite side has the winged griffin sta...
Every Housemark that I can find of "Webster MFG Co" , Brooklyn, NY...doesn't look like this. Is it the company (1859-1873) that was later known as "E.G. Webster & Bros." (1873-1886)...then to be known as "E.G. Webster & Son" (1886-1928). OR is this a housemark f...
I found a set of 5 in a box of other items dating back to most the early 1900's. These are small 4" x 3/4" approx 2.83 oz (each slightly vary). From my research I think they are "Sencha tea cups" (or they are nambe or sake?). The symbol outside the ring I think means "Pure S...
