I have a very nice silver gilt, ivory and leather Aide Memoir. Some of the marks are readable Leopards Head, and the Maker I think Grey & co., but the date letter is really dirty, it looks like a lower case g, but would like to clean it to be sure. The 1883 i, does look the same, I looked at that previously, but because the cartouche did not match, I had dismissed it. Was it common for marks to vary significantly, because I have some other items that I have problems with on date letters ?
