The Mark A of a Silver Tongue Depressor

This English silver tongue depressor from c. 1750 is marked with the letter A. One other very similar silver tongue depressor with the same A mark is shown in E. Bennion, Antique Medical Instruments. Does anyone recognise the mark? Thanks.

R Mark on Germanic Silver

The images are of a silver tongue depressor that is thought to be Germanic and date to the 16th/17th century. It is marked with an R. I seek comments on the mark and possible date. Thanks.
