If you polish these pieces, you should be able to see Reed & Barton's mark just above the number. The company made three or four coffee/tea services in this aesthetic style with designs - and numbers - varying slightly. This was made in 1884 or 1885.

Trev, the Warwick Hotel still occupies the site at 54th & Sixth, although its address has been changed to 65 W. 54th Street. Built in 1926 by William Randolph Hearst, the building has been fully restored.

Not at all unusual. I have several pieces of silver from the 1880s and 1890s that were engraved with later dates and given as gifts (birthdays, wedding anniversaries, etc).

All of these pieces look like hotel or restaurant ware from the 1930s. Perhaps it was dumped down a well to hide it from invading forces during the war and never reclaimed.

This pattern reminds me of Gorham's "Plymouth." I would say 1910s - 1920s.

I just came across this post and hope you receive this reply, given the length of time that has passed since you posted. Your sconces were made by Lawrence B. Smith Co. of Boston, Massachusetts. The company was in business from 1887 until 1958.

This is a marks identification forum and I risk wandering away from the topic, but your candelabrum is the absolute height of the Art Nouveau movement, which would have occurred closer to the late 1890s - 1900. Try an earlier catalog.

This is late but I'll post anyway. Victor Saglier produced silver from the 1870s to 1894. In 1894, his two sons took over the business, which produced silver plated items under the name of "Saglier Freres" until, I believe, the 1920s, and then under a successor until 1947.

I have had this post and silver mark in mind for some time now. I identified it a few years ago but need to go through a large inventory to find the maker's name. I do remember that the key to this mystery is the small "L" above the lion. I will search my inventory and post my finding here.
