Thanks for using my book as a reference, Agphile. This pair is the seventh pair bearing this unusual mark which I am sure can be attributed to James Gray. The technical skill needed to produce such an fine piece of engineering must have commanded a huge premium in terms of time taken to complete the work. I suspect that this may have been reflected in the cost of these tongs to the consumer so, perhaps, they were unwilling to pay the higher price. Who...
