is this dutch and who is the maker

Hi I need a little advice, i think this box is dutch, it has many marks to the box, inside the top seems to have a minerva head and anther mark, to the base a lion and then a makers mark, on the edge at the front another mark ,could anyone tell me if i am correct in saying dutch and any help with ag...

The box is made from Tortoiseshell, the rim frame fits well just missing some pins ( rivets ) understandable for the age

Thanks for your help very interesting, i have found the discharge mark on the side of the body, i have looked into this mark and it also dates the box to the 18th century ... 1781-1789. i think this is the date

Hi

I have this lovely sewing set but cant make out who the french makers might be, the mark is hard to get a good photo as it is just so small, any help would be appreciated

Thanks for your help JayT, You gave me much more information than i thought i would get, thanks to you i know it was crafted in paris in 1760. The makers mark is just to rubbed to make out any initials. but im more than happy, its fascinating to think this was crafted in the time of Louis XV, just a...

Hi

I have tried to work the intials out but seem to rubbed for me to make out what they could be, ive added a couple of hopefully clearer photos, its really hard to see what they may be. Its a long shot but you never know.

Thanks AG2012 for your thoughts, i dont however believe it to be from japan or china, i have seen other boxes like this but more European so was hoping someone may have come a cross this mark before, i will keep my fingers crossed

Hi

Any help would be much appreciated, could this silver shell shape or hand shape hallmark be a French Mark, i would estimate about 1780 but this is just a guess
