"Sterling" and Lion passant, but no city or maker marks

Hello and thank you for this amazing resource! You all have helped me ID some silver in the past.

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the proper category, but starting here. I have the below coffee/tea service pieces and am trying to find out the maker and approximate age. The only marks on the ...

silver ladle, turned wood handle - advice on marks

Hello silver lovers! I would appreciate your opinions/advice on the following marks on my silver ladle.
I think it's Sterling, London, 1827 - (or could that "m" be 1787? the m's for both years look the same to me on the date chart).
Am I on the right track? Or could they be Chinese pseudo marks ...

crossed keys and crowned leopard

I'm stumped on trying to identify the origin and date of this large serving tray. I just assumed it was silverplate, but now I am reading about Old Sheffield Plate and pseudo marks on silverplate. Now I'm thinking these are fake marks to fool me into thinking it is OSP. The research is getting ...

london mark?

I have been trying to identify the marks on my punch ladle.
At first I thought it looked like a bell, w, lion passant, and ??
When I turn it over though, could it be possible that the "bell" is the crowned leopard head?
Could the stamps have not been all stamped "right side up"?

Thanks for any ...

Re: Gorham dish - date? pattern?

Thank you Cheryl! So I guess that means that even though Gorham instituted date marks in 1868 that not all pieces are marked with a date mark?
The item measures 9.3/4" across total, with the inner dish measuring 4.5" across. Does that make it too big to be a bonbon dish?
Thank you for the link to ...

Gorham dish - date? pattern?

I inherited several pieces of silver and have been obsessed with learning more about them. Thank you for this site!

This dish is clearly made by Gorham and is stamped STERLING. Does the M after the pattern number indicate it is dated 1880?
Any info on the pattern? I have not been able to find ...

sugar tongs - help ID marks

Hello,
I have not been able to find this particular mark. The tongs are marked "GERMANY 241/8" on the inside. On the top outside they are marked "800" with a possible crown and crescent moon. I am guessing it is German after 1886 - however all the examples on this site seem to also include a ...

I failed to mention it is also marked "sterling" and "6510", which is probably the pattern no.

unidentified mark compote with hibiscus flowers

Hello,

First of all, thank you so much for all the effort put into this site. I have learned so much!
I have not been able to identify the maker of this compote. Unfortunately, part of the mark is missing. It looks sort of like a crab or maybe a bull?
I saw a similar bowl on eBay recently and the ...
