Re: Silver Cutlery Mark - Can't Find
Hello, no doubt, the bowl mark of K&B; one of the many variants. There is no way to date this precisely, anything between the 1920ies and 1980ies is possible, give or take. K&B went bankrupt a few months ago, so no further info is to be expected from them. Regards, Bahner

Re: Håndarbeid 830S WB (or WTB?) mark on silver bowl
Hello, the absence of halfmoon and crown, the addition of S (Silber/silver/sölv) and the addition of words like Germany, handmade and others like on this piece all point at a genuine German object made after WW II (in this case by BInder) and meant for export. Regards, Bahner

Re: Help with maker of the milk jug
Hello, Rentrop was founded in 1825 and at first made small silverware only (buttons, buckles). After 1871 Rentrop (then run by the son of the founder) specialized in church silver and today is best known for that. It is believed that production ceased during WW II and was not resumed after that. You...

Hello, this is actually a maker's mark: Martin Mayer from Mainz/Mayence, Germany. Some info on the company has already been posted on this forum. The 26 is most likely an internal pattern number, "Depose" can be found quite often on Mayer's objects, even on the ones not meant for export, m...

Re: Breslau, Gebr Somme: JH
Hello, just a gut feeling, but I suspect a badly punched JB rather than a JH. Sommé is known to have retailed objects made by other Breslau makers, A. Ullrich is the first that comes to my mind. Berger was a small, but well-known Breslau maker of flatware, I suspect him to be the source here. Regard...

Re: Unknown mark on German teespoon
Hello, the meaning of the middle mark is unclear. It appears on various Berlin pieces from (very) roughly the 1850ies onwards. Some believe it to be a Gothic W for Wilm as maker, others believe it to be a Gothic M for the actual maker, Wilm just being the retailer. I tend to the former interpretatio...
