Online I've seen a few dresser set pieces with what looks to be the same design and with this same marking Sterling Pat’d 2000 and no maker given. Just wondering if anyone is able to to identify the manufacturer.

Good point. I jumped the gun. Sometimes it seems these designs are varied, but obviously not in this case.

This Gorham patent drawing is simpler than the Shamrock v pattern itself, but I expect it is correct.

Welcome to the forum. Not all coin silver was marked coin. I would take both pieces to be coin silver without hesitation.

W with a J, an I, a T or even an F are my guess.
Not much help, but I have high hopes anyway.

28 September 1784 Samuel son of Edmund Godbehere of Worksworth, Derbyshire Grocer admitted into the Freedom of the City by redemption in the Company of Needlemakers. The very last word at the bottom of the paper is "Silversmith."

Welcome to the forum. I’d say it’s strictly the company’s choice. Whether the number is there or not is of no consequence to the consumer.

Looking for information about the marks on this ladle. The Diana head has an A to the right of it and a 3 under it. The maker’s mark, if that’s what it is, may be upside down. 3 September 1724 Edward Wood aged 24 years St Anne Wardrobe Batchellour and Goldsmith alleged his intention to marry Mary Brown aged 24 years of St Michael Wood Street Spinster.

The trademark is crude and simplified as you say, and yet I believe it is still Meriden. Manufacturers did vary and simplify their marks as time went by.

Thank you buffalorobert. Now that you’ve given me the name, I have been able find out quite a bit about Peter E Kern. He seems to have been very enterprising and successful during his decade or so in Skagway.

Thank you Phil. Turns out that just as I had feared, I had already asked this question and of course received the same answer. Maybe my eyes were better the first time because then I even recognized the letters of the maker’s mark.

These are a couple of small spoons with marks that look British. They look to me like quite a challenge to identify, but wonders do happen on this site all the time.
