This mark is on a set of fish forks and knives I have....does anyone recognize it? I have a feeling it may be Spanish. [/img] http://i.imagehost.org/t/0881/001_12.jpg [img] [/img] http://i.imagehost.org/t/0395/002_7.jpg [img] [/img] http://g.imagehost.org/t/0536/003_4.jpg
Thanks for that. You're correct that the handle is very much like an ax handle and that was my first thought. I guess the silversmiths took considerable liberties with their hand tools. .
Thanks. I thought that it might be, but I think his staff should look more like a cross or T. To be honest, whatever he's holding, it looks like a sledgehammer. .
Could I have opinions on which Apostle this is? He's on an 1896 London spoon by Richard Stebbings. I think it is James the Major with the staff and book, but it could also be James the Minor, as well as Mathias or Matthew.....any thoughts? Many thanks. http://a.imagehost.org/t/0872/001.jpg http://a....
Could someone please tell me if this is some kind of fancy silver gilt souvenir or if it had an actual purpose. It measures about 4 1/2 inches high. Sadly it just has a single German mark, but no maker's mark. Many thanks. http://a.imagehost.org/t/0162/030.jpg http://a.imagehost.org/t/0530/031.jpg h...
I'm told this is probably Norwegian but would love someone to tell me for certain, and the maker. Many thanks. http://a.imagehost.org/t/0970/046.jpg http://a.imagehost.org/t/0882/047.jpg http://h.imagehost.org/t/0295/048.jpg http://a.imagehost.org/t/0097/049.jpg
