Re: Spanish Marks
Hello, good afternoon. Until the 20th century, it was mandatory to mark pieces with three hallmarks: maker, assayer, and city. The problem is that many silversmiths didn't do so, either because they didn't pay taxes or because they didn't go to the assayer. Indeed, the MA mark surrounded by dots is ...

Hello, The only two official brands are 916 and VERA.
Francisco Vera founded his silversmithing workshop in 1953. In 1977, he opened a shop on Castelló Street in Madrid, and in 1980, he moved to 91 General Díaz Porlier Street. Among his activities, his reproductions stand out, such as the spouted ...

Re: attribution
To what Amena published, I add the identity of the silversmith. It is Manuel Azcona Martínez. He was approved as a master silversmith in 1789 and used two marks, the first AS/CONA until 1794 and the second ASCONA (with the inverted N), until 1800.

In the 1970s, a Spanish silversmith began reproducing 18th century objects with fake markings. The piece you have is his production; the object was made in Spain but the markings are fake. The cup you have is probably a wine tasting cup.

Re: 18th century French? silver knife
The marks are Spanish, according to the Ordinances of 1733. The "crowned L" corresponds to the city of Valencia. The assayer is Andreu Navarro, active between 1814 and 1858. And the silversmith could correspond to Ramón Puchol.

Re: Unknow marks - Circle with 5 points star stamp and 91 B stamp
Good afternoon. The purity of the silver is indicated by the five-pointed star with a purity of 916 thousandths. The star was adopted in Spain in 1934. The mark 91/B. B corresponds to Barcelona and 91 to the company TOPAZI, S.A. Topazi Street, 24 AT-2, 08001 Barcelona. Extinct today.
