I was just looking closer at the mark on this platter and I noticed that the number '1' looks just like a typewriter #1. So, wouldn't that pretty much guarantee that this platter isn't that old? Has anyone ever seen a mark of antiquity with numbers like this? I'm really doubting the age that someone...

That was a good idea, Tom. However, I can't find any smoke stands that looked anything like that. What I'd love to get my hands on is a catalog of Middletown Plate Company products.
