Re: Coffee spoon StP 1844

My source tells me that he worked at least during the 1840s (he had two apprentices in the 1840s ) maybe later, but as said this is all I know. As I mentioned he became master 1825 and it is quite possible that he still worked in 1850s maybe even later. Anyway, My source shows me a soot mark of his ...

Re: Coffee spoon StP 1844

This is a difficult case because there are some masters with the initials FK but their mark is not known. Anyway, I managed to find one prospect whose mark is known. The FK could stand for Frantz Körning/Kernig active in St.Petersburg from 1825 to around 1850 (but?). That is all I know about him.

Re: What does that mean?

Yes it is Nikolay Fyodorovich Kemper in StP 1892-1908. Unfortunately I'm unable to read the text. Is it Russian at all? If so, very difficult handwriting, sorry!

Re: Russian Silver orthodox

OK, its genuine according to Dad. St. George's shield/frame is a bit odd for the period, but? Anyway, the maker МД would likely be Makar Danilov in Moscow ? Assayer AC is either Aggei Svechin or Aleksandr Smirnoff difficult to say which one. Actually it is of less importance in this case. Please not...

Re: German silver fork

OK, now we are talking. You are absolutely right that if a person in Soviet aimed to officially sell silver, it had to be remarked with Soviet marks. However, somehow the discussion "anticipated" that the spoon would have been exported to Soviet and I protested against that. No problem, ca...

Ahhhh! Some inputs were made while I was writing, but no problems or nothing radical. All in order.

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

This is a tricky case. I have some "answers" to the punches. It seems to that at least some of them are old Guardeinstempler/Assay Office marks and the rest are masters. The building above the 7 cannon balls/hills in the town mark is as I already mentioned Bergen's town gate, abandoned abo...

Re: German silver fork

A friend of mine informed me that the maker is Sauerland Gebrüder, Berlin. He also claimed that the fork actually would have exported to Soviet as you also claimed in the first place. I am, anyway, a bit doubtful but I revert to this if I manage to get more information. I have difficulties to unders...

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

Hmmmm! And the rest of the not translated text says: ... when many strange things were made, and there was little knowledge among the people. Yes, a plausible explanation. I saw/found the mentioned maker on p. 83 in Norsk sølv. His name is actually Ditmer Kahrs born in Bergen 1740. An independent bu...

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

Please note that the town mark doesn't match with 1784. It had a different outlook then.

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

@Silverstone :-))))))) OK, anyway, I wrote almost Did you find anything identifying these spoons' marks? I didn't. I also saw the spoons i Norsk Sølv. I also checked from Norske Sølvskjeer by Jorunn Fossberg, but nothing. Drueskje means grape spoon. All in all, what is the result? The maker is not e...

Re: German silver fork

Would you mind show some better pictures of the marks only. What can bee seen now is too many marks i.e from left German marks, Soviet maker's mark, a ??? mark and another Soviet mark (worker's head 1927-59). BTW. What makes you think it was exported to Soviet ??? (Soviet importing silver ?!) In my ...

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

No problem Silverstone, it's OK even if I almost fainted reading you input :-)) Anyway, let's revers a bit. If we pay attention to marks they tell that the spoons would be made during the first half of the 19th century. The outlook of the spoons is rather uncommon for the mentioned period. Moreover,...

It is made in the Soviet Union in Sverdlovsk 1971. Unfortunately I don't know the name of the factory, possibly Juvelirnaja masterskaja (?)

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

My pleasure and yes, the zodiac marks were "restored" in 1821 but they got a totally new shape containing figures. I tried with any possible combination of the maker's mark but unfortunately with no success. As I already mentioned, something is not in place...

Re: Please help to identify the maker's mark of the set of Norwegian Bergen spoons.

A zodiac mark like this was not anymore used in late 19th century but it was used 1788, but then again the Bergen town mark looked different.
Anyway, I cannot either find any suitable maker from the latter half of the 19th century. In my mind something is not in place here-

Re: Sugar bowl, Moscow, 1844

Yes there are some “ГШ" punches with or without dots. In addition the year 1852 is an approximate year often seen. The real period could be before or after or...? One should be careful with it and t check with other sources too.

Re: Sugar bowl, Moscow, 1844

Aaaaa it looks like a new Soviet mark from 1992. A barrel shielded right looking kokoshnik. Probably a remarking to enable a later selling in Soviet, or ??? Any ideas?

Re: Sugar bowl, Moscow, 1844

It could be Heinrich Steinschoporn in Moscow, but I'm not sure. He was active in Moscow around 1852, but???
Mind my asking, but what is the mark above above St. George ??? Looks like an upside down 875 and?
