Picklefork

You are so right, Jackjo. If I'd remembered that it was Dutch I might have looked on the J as a V which of course it is. I'm also told now that it's more likely a sardine fork Live and learn!!

Art Deco Picklefork

I have an art deco picklefork which I believe is Dutch because of the small silver sword mark. The maker's mark is deep and quite indistinct but looks like JK followed by another unidentified letter or a symbol surmounted by a crown. http://www.mcsweb.co.uk/silver/pickle1.jpg" onclick="window.open(t...

Napkin Ring

I can't see an answer for this so ... in my opinion it's a Birmingham napkin ring made in 1966 probably by Lanson Ltd but the maker's mark is unclear in the picture so it is possibly a piece made for Gieves of London.

Pressed Silver Mark

I have several pressed silver items of no great age that are marked with a lower case g in a diamond or lozenge and usually with 925 alongside it. http://www.mcsweb.co.uk/silver/diamondg.jpg Shown in the picture is the mark on the rear of a silver decanter label but I have examples on 'Victorian sty...

Egyptian Date Marks

I really do second this question. I have several small items of Egyptian silver dated post 1946. The purity and point of assay are reasonably clear but the date code is naturally in Arabic. Unfortunately the Arabic alphabet doesn't run in sequence from A to Z and to the non-arabic speaker there are ...
