Early Tea Tongs HR

Nice tea tongs/nips. I'm jealous!

Maker could possibly be Henry Renaud (Grimwade 1063). The shape of the lower half of the cartouche looks very similar, and the wavy line at the top could be the underside of the crown if the top of the mark didn't strike well.

Hello, me again. I've discovered that I have a pair of tongs with the same "JS" mark. The period of these would correspond to the 1771 date in Grimwade. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n170/clivetaylor/unknownmarkontongs.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n170/clivetaylor/unknownton...

"JS" mark on London tankard

Hi,
Try Grimwade p. 262 no. 3685. It shows as unidentified, but is also on a 1771 tankard.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Sue
