I recently inherited a silver plated vase. I don't know anything about it.
It has Dutch scenes etched all along the bottom and along the top. The only marks are H S G (or C) with each of the letters enclosed in a box-like design shaped like a little house. Also the number 5610 is below the letters. I don't know where to start looking. Can someone give me a start.

This is an update to my post. The first pic is the vase and the other is a crude drawing of the marks on the bottom.
I will be happy to help anyone with more info if needed. I just need some answers.

I believe the vase is silver plated over copper, but not sure of anything.

Checked both my British and American silverplate books for an HSC and HSG mark. Sorry to say, I could not find yours mark.

I know--I have tried looking every where for these marks and have had no luck. It would seem that as many folks have silver items,somebody would know. If I knew even what country or date, it would be a start. All I know is that it is prob. 100 yrs old.

The form and style of the piece itself would date it to c.1895 to 1915, the little Dutch scenic decorations were widely produced in America at the time.
The style of the marks are also more in keeping with America than elsewhere, this is certainly not a foolproof way of placing a silverplated piece's origin, but the probability is there.
Although the picture is not large enough to read, I suspect the last letter is a C., so the initials would stand for H*** Silver Company or H*** Sterling Co. There are a couple of candidates for this in Rainwater and it may be an unrecorded mark of one of them.

Found a possibility, a silverplate mark used by the Hartford Sterling Company.

I was recently given the name Hemill Silverware Inc.,but can't find anything about this company except NY,NY 1920-1930.
Anybody else got more data on this company.
