Is anybody familiar with this company and the P Star mark? Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

Likely Edwin Morrison Roberts of Hartford CT. He apprenticed to Walter Pitkin in 1833 and bought out the business and stock in 1860. The P/star mark was used on Pitkin's wholesale goods for many years.

Thank you! I came across the name you have suggested, but never with Robert’s alone. The P Star mark would have remained a complete mystery for me.
