hi everyone, i have tried searching for the marks on this spoon but i cant seem to find anything about it , i hope some of you know what the date and maker is thanks

Hi, I believe someone tried to cheat the matter by using the word sterling on a silver plated spoon made in Sheffield. The word sterling is not a hallmark.

Very intriguing indeed. The punch with long lettering and well done. Obviously not made for this small spoon but for larger scale unscrupulous trade with plated items bearing famous Sheffield crown. This is the very first time I see this, but I was not much interested in plated ware.
``BP`` alloy (Britannia Plate ?) has not been identified so far, or something has changed in the meantime.
