Grimwade last notes him entering a mark in 1697 at Goldsmiths’ Hall as a smallworker from an address “without Cripplegate”.
His burial was registered in 1701 at St Martin, Ludgate.
The Will of Edmund Townsend, goldsmith late of St Martin’s parish, Ludgate, was granted probate in 1702. He was apparently unmarried and left his estate to be divided between his brothers and sisters.
