Indentures to be his apprentices were signed by Edward Buller in 1716, by Charles Jacock Jackson in 1727 and by Robert’s son Peter Higgs in 1731, the latter document identifying him as free of the Clockmakers Company at Aldermanbury from where he had entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a smallworker in 1721.
He is listed on page 152 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World as having started his apprenticeship in 1699 and having been a freeman of the Company from 1714-31.
