She appears to have been the widow of Jonathan Buttall, a Founder from Minories. He was assessed to Land Tax there until 1753. The name in the book changed to Buttall without title in 1754 which presumably referred to his widow Sarah who entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall from the address in May of that year.
The widow Sarah Buttall married the bachelor John Bumford at St Botolph, Aldersgate in September 1754. Bumford had been a neighbour of the Buttalls from at least 1745 and was a gun maker who continued to be assessed to Land Tax in Minories until 1774.
The burial of Sarah, late of Tottinham (sic) and the wife of John Bumford, was recorded at St Botolph’s in 1775.
