Indentures to be his apprentice were signed in 1718 by Robert Quait.
He is identified at Bull and Mouth Street in the London Poll Book of 1727.
Benjamin, the son of Benjamin Brewood of the Goldsmiths Company, was granted freedom by patrimony in 1728. The first part of the document is written in Latin but appears to refer to his father being made free in 1699 (as is usual with such documents). The rest of the document is written in English and would allay Grimwade’s concerns regarding Benjamin I having a legitimate son. It is stated on the document to have been found as a fact by no less than six Freemen of the City.
The following information could therefore relate to the son of Benjamin I.
A Benjamin Brewood married Martha Deacon at St George, Mayfair on 19th September 1729, possibly finally settling the various Fleet marriages referred to in Grimwade’s account.
Benjamin Brewood was assessed to Land Tax on unidentified property in St Anne’s Precinct from 1729-1744. Bull and Mouth Street from where he entered his maker’s mark in 1729 is thought to be within St Anne’s parish.
The burial of a Benjamin Breewood (sic) was recorded at St Anne and St Agnes in 1744 and is probably relevant.
