Russian silver with pink stone
Re: Russian silver with pink stone
Hi Pininy
Today we see a lot of so called Russian Imperial silver with pseudo Russian hallmarks.
Like the pseudo Kokoshnik; oval with woman’s head facing right (used 1908-1926), the delta; regional assay office letter for Moscow, fineness 84 zolotniks or .875. The makers’ mark; П.O in rectangle with sort of cut corners pseudo for; Pavel Ovchinnikov, Moscow 1853-1916 and a pseudo name mark with the Imperial Warrant Mark signifying silversmiths to the Imperial Russian Court.
For information about the correct makers’ mark see;

Pavel Ovchinnikov.
For information about Kokoshnik see;

However it is my personal opinion and others may have a different view.
Oel.

Yes, I'm afraid that Oel has revealed the truth. This is a dubious object. Anyway, does the statue really have a yellow shade or is it only a discoloration on my screen? It isn't gilded or is it?
