He was christened in 1756 the son of John, a carpenter and glazier and Jemima Lea of New Street Hill, later of Poppin’s Court, at St Bride’s, Fleet Street. His brother was Joseph Lea (Grimwade p.372).
He married Elizabeth Hamblett at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1780; both were from that parish. His brother Joseph signed the register as a witness.
Christening records of two of their daughters in 1783 and 1785 at St Giles, Cripplegate show their father as a silversmith.
Christening records for two more daughters in 1790 and 1793 at St Bride’s show their address as 19 Poppin’s Court from where their father had entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a small worker in 1790.
His burial aged 73 years, late of Poppin’s Court, was recorded at St Bride’s in 1830.
His Will dated in 1820 refers to him having been a silver case maker.
