Christening records at St James, Clerkenwell in 1824 for two children of Samuel and Elizabeth Mary show him as a watch case maker from “Islington”.
Christening records at the same church in 1827 for two more of their children show him in the same trade at Mount Row.
Christening records for two more of their children at Holy Trinity, Islington in 1832 show him in the same trade at Warren Street, Pentonville from where he had been assessed to Land Tax since 1829.
He entered marks at Goldsmiths Hall in 1835 in partnership with Joseph Hirst (Grimade p.318, 343, 348) as watch case makers from 28 Coppice Row, Clerkenwell and alone in 1836 and 1845 from 74 Myddleton Street, Clerkenwell.
The 1841 UK Census shows him at that address aged about 40 years and in the same trade.
His death was registered in 1849 in Clerkenwell.
Volume I, page 402 of The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths Jewellers & Allied Traders 1838-1914 by John Culme records that he was succeeded in the business at 74 Myddleton Street first by his widow Elizabeth Mary who entered a mark from that address in 1849 then in 1850 by his son Frederick Samuel (born 1832).
