He was christened at St John the Baptist, Coventry in 1809, the son of George (Grimwade p.337) and Rachel.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1832 as a case maker from 10 Galway Street, the same address as the one entered by Alfred Thickbroom (Grimwade p.288) in 1836.
He married Martha Potter at St John, Hackney in 1832; both were from that parish. Her burial in 1835 aged 24 years was registered at St John, Hoxton; her last address was Galway Street.
As a widower he married Caroline Jane Marsden at St Paul Canonbury, Islington in 1836.
The 1841 UK Census shows them at Belle View Hill, Preston by Wingham, Ramsgate.
For both 1851 and 1861 UK Census he was at 28 Tysoe Street, Clerkenwell as a watch case maker.
His death was registered at Clerkenwell in 1867.
Probate for his Will was granted at the Principal Registry in 1867. His last address was Tysoe Street; the value of his estate was under £1000.
