He was christened the son of John and Susannah Harle at St James, Clerkenwell in 1787.
He married Sarah Dayns at St James, Clerkenwell in 1822; she was from St Mary, Islington parish.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1822 as a case maker from 68 Wynatt Street.
The 1841-1861 UK Census records show him continuing at Wynatt Street as a watch maker.
His burial in 1868 aged 81 years was recorded at St James church; his last address was as previously noted.

A Death Notice that appeared in The Horological Journal that may indicate, because of the name and address, a continuation of Charles Harle's business:


We regret to announce the rather sudden death of an old and esteemed member of the trade, Mr. C.H. Harle, watch case maker, of Wynyatt Street, Northampton Square, at the age of 71. Mr. Harle's knowledge and taste for fine art work, and his high manipulative skill in the restoration of antique and choice specimens of case work, placed him at the head of a branch that is rapidly becoming, if not already, extinct, and make his loss very generally felt.
