He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1836 as a smallworker from 62 Strand.
The 1841 UK Census for that address recorded him aged 30 years living with his parents. Both he and his father John were shown as surgical instrument makers.
The 1851 UK Census for 32 Chester Terrace, Regent’s Park recorded him as a proprietor of houses.
He married Mary Elizabeth Roe at All saints, Fulham in 1851. The record shows him as a bachelor and gentleman of St Pancras. Mary Elizabeth was a minor and spinster from Fulham.
The 1861 UK Census recorded him as a farmer in Egham, Surrey.
In 1871 and 1881 he was recorded at 33 Chester Terrace, Regent’s Park firstly as a manufacturer and secondly as a retired army contractor.
He died in 1889.
His Will was proved at the Principal Registry in 1889 and recorded he was a surgical instrument maker. His last address was 33 Chester Place. The value of his estate was £35551/19s/4d.
