The 1851 UK Census records he was born in Tipton, Staffordshire around 1788.
Christening records at St Giles, Holborn 1815-17 for three children of John and Mary Nickolds show their address as 188 Drury Lane and their father as a die sinker.
Christening records at St Marylebone 1828-9 for two of their children show their address as 15 Buckingham Place and their father as a silversmith. William Nickolds (Grimwade p.608) had been at Buckingham Place in 1839.
The 1841 UK Census records him at Clarkes Place, Gray’s Inn Lane as an engineer.
The 1851 & 1861 UK Census records show him at 5 Woodbridge Street, Clerkenwell as a machinist and concertina maker.
The England & Wales Deaths Index for the Clerkenwell register records his death in 1862.
