He was christened at St Andrew, Enfield in 1798 the son of Robert and Ruth.
He married Ellen Howard Trott at St Mary, Lambeth in 1825; both were from that parish.
Christening records of four of their children at St George, Bloomsbury 1826-32 show their address as Museum Street and their father as either a goldsmith or a jeweller.
A further christening of a daughter in 1848 at the same church records her address as 3 Poland Street, Soho and her father as a jeweller.
No record has been traced of him on the 1841 UK Census for Poland Street, Soho or elsewhere. Two sons, John aged 20 a goldsmith and Robert Peel aged 18 an engraver, are mentioned living at 80 Wardour Street, Soho with Louis Antra a jewel case maker.
The absence in 1841 seems to have been temporary. The 1851 and 1861 UK Censuses again show him at 3 Poland Street as a goldsmith and jeweller respectively.
His burial aged 64 years is recorded in 1863 at St James, St Pancras; his last address was as previously.
