Grimade’s speculation that Richard Hobdell was related to Henry is confirmed by a document in which Richard applied for freedom of the City of London in the Company of Goldsmiths declaring he was Henry’s son.
Lists of Duties paid by Henry Hobdell for Apprentice Indentures include John Fry I (Grimwade p.516) in 1765 and Alexander Walmsley (Grimwade p.356) in 1777.
