this old tankard appears to be american and is marked .. f g .. it is solid silver ...and very period .. any help would be appreciated and I hope I have this in the right section now ... thanks in advance...

It may be Farr & Gilbert 1813-1814 , from Manlius , N.Y

The FG are the owner's initials, not a maker's mark. From it's form, the cann is more likely 19th century Dutch or German.

My gut reaction, probably due to the gauge of the metal and some proportional clumsiness, is Spanish Colonial - Mexican or South American. I've moved it here to other European in hopes of some varied input.
