SHINTON, Humphrey (Grimwade p.657)

Grimwade comments that the words "silver mark" are given below Shinton's entry in the register, "suggesting he was more accustomed to working in some other material".
Two silver buckles have been seen with this mark, which has a distinctive downward angle to the crossbar of the "H".
Could he have been a general bucklemaker who need a silver mark so he could add silver buckles to his range ?
