Grimwade gives his only mark, as a bucklemaker at 5, Caroline Court, Saffron Hill, entered on 11 September 1784
However the Westminster Pollbooks for the year 1st January - 31st December 1784 give him as Benjamin Stubbs , Bucklemaker, of Shire Lane, voting in the district of St Clement Danes and St Mary-le-Strand . It is poosible that his private house and his workplace were different of course

He gave his address as Caroline Court for the christening of a daughter Catherine at St Andrew, Holborn on 5th June 1785. His wife was also named Catherine.
His address had changed to Upper East Smithfield on 19th June 1791 when his son Benjamin was christened at St Botolph, Aldgate.

A christening record for his daughter Susanna in 1782 at St Dunstan in the West confirms he was at Shire Lane at that time.
A christening record for his daughter Mary in 1783 at St Giles, Cripplegate also shows, in addition to his voting record, that he was a bucklemaker (no address recorded) at a time before entering his own mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1784.
A christening record for his daughter Rachael in 1789 at St Botolph, Aldgate shows he was resident earlier in Upper Smithfield than previously discovered. Later christening records at St Botolph show he was still in Upper Smithfield in 1795.
